Abstract
894,268. Valves. ETABLISSEMENTS CLESSE S.A. July 28, 1959 [Aug. 1, 1958; Jan. 14, 1959 ; June 23, 1959], No. 25867/59. Class 135. Fluid under pressure such as butane, propane &c. supplied from two or more sources connected at 2, 3 and delivered to an outlet 32 is controlled by valves 7, 8 actuated by a spring- loaded diaphragm 18 subject to outlet pressure and operating the valves through a cam 30 which can be rotated by a selector knob 23. The apparatus maintains a constant pressure in the outlet by actuating the valve situated below the deeper portion a of the cam until the corresponding source of supply is exhausted whereupon the diaphragm will descend sufficiently to operate the other valve to admit fluid from the other source. An operator can then turn the knob to a position corresponding to selection of the latter source so that the valve controlling the exhausted source will be closed and the exhausted supply cylinder can be replaced. An indicator visible through a window in a cover 19 or incorporated in the knob 23 is actuated by the diaphragm to indicate when the selected supply source is exhausted. Loose ball valves or lift valves may be provided in the inlets 2, 3 to prevent reverse flow.
