Abstract
862,554. Valves. SAMUEL WHITE & CO. Ltd., J. April 29, 1959 [May 1, 1958], No. 13955/58. Class 135. A fluid control valve has a piston 14, which moves longitudinally within a valve chamber and engages toroidal ring seals in recesses in the chamber walls at 15 and 16, to prevent leakage from or communication between aligned passages 11 and 12 ; the inlet passage 11 has a port between the seals and the outlet passage 12 has a port on one side of the seals. In the open position shown, valve piston 14 engages only with ring 15. In its closed position it makes sealing engagement with both rings. The piston is manually actuated by a threaded shaft 17 retained axially in the valve case at 19 ; piston turning is prevented by a lug 20 which slides in a slot 21 in the valve case and serves as a piston position indicator.
