Abstract

1,105,265. Valves. PHILIPS GLOEILAM- PENFABRIEKEN N.V. 20 April, 1965 [22 April, 1964], No. 16531/65. Heading F2V. When a spindle 3 is raised above one or more radial ports 13 in a removable sleeve 1 a bore 11 and a pipe 15 are placed in communication through an annular space 17 between the sleeve 1 and the valve housing 7. The spindle 3 has a curved end 25 and a small clearance in the sleeve 1 which provides a permanent leak between the bore 11 and pipe 15 when the spindle covers the ports 13; the leakage quantity increases as the spindle is raised from a seat 35 in the bore 11 towards the ports 13. The spindle 3 is actuated by a rotatable control knob 37 which provides axial but prevents rotary motion of the spindle. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the spindle has two reduced parts (49, 53) interconnected by a conical portion (51) forming a closure member coaoting with a seat (57). The part (53) and its curved end (55) serve to progressively increase the fluid flow as the spindle is raised.
