Abstract
948,290. Valves. M. DHUGUES. Dec. 5, 1961 [Dec. 9, 1960], No. 43431/61. Heading F2V. A multi-way valve comprises a number of transverse conduits 11, Fig. 2, each offset with respect to the axis of a bore 2a so as to open laterally into the bore and a movable member having a number of closure elements 9. The offset conduits cause the fluid to have a whirling motion in the bore 2a to reduce head losses which would otherwise result from the sharp change in direction. A number of separate sections 2, 3, 4 are clamped against each other by four rods (not shown) which pass through all of the sections. Annular seals 5, Fig. 6, have a central aperture 5a to co-operate with the closure elements and an outer ring 6 or 7 to centre the sections with respect to each other. The movable member of the valve is provided at each end with a cup shaped member 13 and a diaphragm 14 for fluid actuation. The casing may be constructed for connection to five conduits or to a second casing with bores 2b, Fig. 5, in vertical alignment.
