Abstract
970,551. Valves. AUSTIN S. BEECH & CO. Ltd. Jan. 28, 1963 [Jan. 31, 1962], No. 3735/62. Heading F2V. A fluid control valve of the type in which a valve spool 23, Fig. 1, is fitted in a sleeve 13 which itself is a free fit in a valve body 11 has fluid conduits 17 passing through plugs 15, 16 sealed to bores in the sleeve by resilient rings 20. Further resilient rings 19 seal the plugs to bores in the body. The lower end of the sleeve 13 may be closed in and the upper end sealed to the operating spindle of the spool if the valve is to be used with corrosive fluids. The sleeve and spool may be of stainless steel and the body of plastic or aluminium. Energization of a solenoid opens the valve against a spring load 25. In Fig. 3, two solenoids 26, 27 each capable of moving the spool through half of its total displacement against centring springs 33 are provided and the sleeve 30 is connected to the body by three plugs 36, 37, 38 held in place by covers 45, 48. The passages within the plugs communicate with passages 42, 43, 44 in the body through cross-bores 41 while the ports at the ends of the sleeve may be connected with exhaust spaces 138, 139 through bores 150.
