Abstract

1,183,760. Valves. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 19 Dec., 1967 [25 Jan., 1967], No. 57639/67. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a body 1 separated into two chambers by a partition 2 having an aperture 11 therethrough, formed with a seat for a closure member, e.g. a ball 12, rotatably mounted in a support 14 which has a spherical portion 16 sliding in a tubular portion 17 of the body. The support and closure member are loaded to the closed position by a spring 28, to prevent flow through passages A and B, and opened by an actuator 24 moved in a cylinder 20 by fluid pressure from a connection 21, the cylinder 20 being sealed by a bellows 26. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the closure 12 is loaded off its seat by a spring (31), and closed by fluid pressure in the cylinder (20). In the valve of Fig. 3 (not shown), the closure 12 is lifted off its seat by an actuator (37) moved by a cam (39) on a spindle (40). In Fig. 4 (not shown), two valves of the construction shown in Fig. 1 are actuated by a common fluid cylinder (41), to control flow through connections (A) and (B).
