Abstract

984,180. Valves. LANG PNEUMATIC Ltd. March 6, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7654/60. Heading F2L. A valve adapted to control communication between an inlet port 2 and a transfer port 3 and between this transfer port and an exhaust port, has a bore extending through the valve body 1 which comprises two contiguous portions 4, 5 (Fig. 1) or 27, 28 (Fig. 3) of different uniform diameters, the larger bore portion being closed by an axially bored plug 6 or 6a which provides the said exhaust port and the smaller bore portion being closed by an actuating plunger 12 or 12a, 29, the inlet and transfer ports being in open communication each with one of the bore portions, a valve member 13 or 13b in the larger bore portions being spring- urged on to a seat 22 or 22a to isolate the inlet and transfer ports whilst allowing communication between the transfer and exhaust ports. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the valve member 13 is carried by the plunger and has an additional closure seating on the plug 6. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 the plunger 12a, 29 is separate from the valve member 13b and on depression against a spring 31 closes a seat opening 36 in this valve member which communicates with the exhaust port in the plug.
