Abstract

1,009,729. Valves. C. L. W. ABEGGLEN. May 12, 1962, No. 18362/62. Heading F2V. A three-way valve comprises a tubular element 5, Fig. 1, with a radial aperture 5c, a valve 5a rigid with the element and a valve 6 controlling the bore in the element. When the valve 6 is moved to the right by means of its stem 6a it opens the valve 5a to put an inlet port 1 into communication with a service port 2 while movement to the left places the latter port in communication with an exhaust port 3 through the radial aperture 5c. The element 5 may have an apertured tubular extension to the right of the valve 5a to surround a portion 7 of the valve 6 or the valves may be reversed so that port 3 is controlled by the valve 5a and port 1 by the valve 6. In Fig. 3, the valves 5a and 6 are urged on to their seats by springs 10 and 9 respectively. The valve 5a may function as a pressure regulator for flow between the ports 1, 2 and is biased to the open position by springs 13, 14, Fig. 5, while the valve 6 functions as a relief valve for flow between the ports 2, 3 and is loaded to the closed possition by springs 12, 13.
