Abstract

1,155,146. Valves. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 5 Jan., 1967, No. 1261/67. Heading F2V. The spool 5 of a fluid pressure valve has a step 10 of greater area than step 15 so that the working fluid assists opening of the closure 11, 12. The valve has an inlet 2, an outlet 3, an exhaust 4 and a pair of concentric closure members 9, 11 which co-operate with seats 7, 12 and are urged to the positions shown by springs 13, 14. In operation initial movement of rod 8 to the right seats closure 9 so cutting off the connection between outlet 3 and exhaust via bore 6, and further movement unseats closure 11 to establish communication between the inlet and outlet 2, 3.
