Abstract
1,250,387. Valves. M. R. BURGER, and D. S. DELANY. 19 Nov., 1969 [20 Nov., 1968; 5 May, 1969], No. 56597/69. Heading F2V. A fluid flow control valve comprising a valve housing with aligned inlet port, outlet port, valve member 321 and seat 141, a bellows appliance with a bellows 201 deformable in the direction of alignment and the interior of which is closed off in relation to the controlled fluid is characterized by a guide arrangement by which the valve member 321 is guided in the direction of alignment. The bellows carries a pot 58 secured to a connecting rod 301 of the valve member so that on increasing the internal pressure in the bellows the valve member is lifted off its seat. A shaped part 121 is reversible through 180 degrees (Fig. 2, not shown). The bellows may be pressurized by fluid from an hydraulic press (36) (Fig. 3, not shown). An additional bellows (203) (Fig. 4, not shown) may be introduced into the valve housing, its interior communicating to atmosphere and its diameter corresponding to the diameter of the valve member (323). In this way the first bellows (202) only has to overcome the force of a spring (67) in order to open the valve, since the inlet fluid pressure does not act on the valve member. In another embodiment (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), the valve is opened by rotation of a screw spindle (73). The interior of the bellows (204) communicates to the atmosphere via ports 70 and 75.
