Abstract

1414838 Valves HEPWORTH PLASTICS Ltd 6 Nov 1973 51455/73 Heading F2V A stop valve has a valve member 9, which is slidable on a tube 7 and in a chamber 2, and is normally held on a seat 4 around an inlet 5 by inlet fluid pressure acting in chamber 2, port 11 and the bore 10 of the tube 7 communicating the chamber with the inlet. If a valve member 15 is moved axially in the tube by rotation of a captive knob 26 to cut off communication of the inlet with port 11 and open communication of the latter with a passage 12, 13 connected to the outlet 6 inlet fluid pressure moves the valve member 9 off its seat to connect the inlet 5 and outlet 6. The chamber 2 is defined by an insert 3 screw-threaded into the valve body 1 and which holds the seat 4 against the shoulder 18 in the body. The valve is made of acetal resin apart from seat 4, closure member 16 and seals 28, 29 which are all of neoprene.
