Abstract

1393330 Valves GROHE HANDEL - GESELLSCHAFT mbH 8 Nov 1973 [18 Nov 1972] 51867/73 Heading F2V A valve has a double-acting valve member 13 which is movable to the position shown to allow water in inlet chamber 2 to flow to outlet 3 leading to a bath, or to an alternative position engaging seating 11 whereby the water flows to outlet 4 leading to a shower. The valve actuating rod 9 is slidably mounted in the valve housing and carries a damping piston 14. The latter carries a ring 15 which is slotted to provide the necessary damping-fluid -transfer passage. Alternatively, the piston may be provided with throttle slots or bores therein. A spring 16 effects automatic return of the valve to the position shown when the water pressure falls consequent upon closure of a shut-off (not shown). The rod 9 may describe a slight pendular movement about its seal 10 to permit self-alignment of the valve member with its seatings 11, 12, the piston ring 15 being of low-friction plastics material and accommodated in a relatively deep groove in the piston 14 to facilitate such movement.
