801,748. Respiratory appliances. NORMALAIR, Ltd. April 15, 1957 [April 24, 1956], No. 12465/56. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] A servo-actuated demand valve for respirators has a main valve member 14 slidable in a cylindrical mounting 8 and normally held against its seating 9 by a spring 33 and by gas pressure from a supply G, passing through a central drilling 15 to a chamber E. This chamber is normally closed by a ball 19 engaging a resilient seating 17. When the valve is to be opened, pressure on this ball, by a rod 20, is released by a pressure sensitive diaphragm, the contained pressure in chamber E is exhausted through orifices 6 and the valve 14 is lifted off its seat 9 to allow gas to pass through ports 3, 4 to the face mask.
