Abstract
1,015,303. Warming devices for respiratory appliances. O. H. DRAGER [trading as DRAGERWERKE HEINR & BERNH DRAGER]. May 10,1963 [May 10,1962], No. 18723/63. Heading A5T. A closed circuit respiratory apparatus includes a warning device for warning the user when the nutrient gas supply is less than a predetermined value. The warning device comprises a spring bellows 12 in which is displaceably mounted driving member 17 which, under the action of spring 18, tends to extend the bellows 12. The member 17 is articulated to lever 19 which carries flap 20, movable from an open to a closed position, in which it blocks inhalation duct 21. The respiratory apparatus comprises a lung-controlled valve comprising control lever 5 bearing against diaphragm 3, and rockable valve closure member 6 adapted to close oxygen supply pipe 7. On inhalation, the diaphragm causes levers to rock and the valve 6 opens, allowing oxygen to flow to duct 21. Oxygen also flows through throttled screw connection 9 to chamber 11, which holds bellows 12. If the oxygen pressures drops too low, the action of spring 18 overcomes the oxygen pressure and the bellows 12 extend, causing flap 20 to close inhalation duct 21. Flap 20 may be provided with apertures provided with reeds, which result in a warning sound being given when the flap 20 closes duct 21. The gas pressure may act on the inside of the bellows. A throttle may be provided in connection 9.
