Abstract
389,358. Respiratory appliances. CHRISTENSEN, A. M. H. L., 66, Moislingerallee, Lubeck, Germany. July 25, 1932, No. 20943. [Class 81 (ii).] In a closed-circuit respiratory appliance the danger of use of the appliance with the main oxygen valve closed is avoided by the provision of a valve 9, which normally closes the breathing circuit, or so obstructs it as to render breathing difficult, and which is opened, on opening the oxygen valve, by the action of the oxygen on a piston 15 connected to the valve 9 by a lever 13. The piston 15 is enclosed in a chamber 10 connected by a pipe 11 to the high-pressure or low-pressure side of the oxygen pressure-reducing valve. In a modification the valve 9 has a central opening obstructed by a whistle or other device adapted to give an audible warning when the valve is closed, that is when the oxygen has not been turned on. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 362,573.
