Abstract

518,967. Valves. MORRIS, C. V. Aug. 11, 1938, No. 23660. [Class 135] In a valve for fire-hydrant systems for use in mines, wh'ch comprises a main valve 28 and an auxiliary check-valve for providing a predetermined restriction of the flow, the check comprises an apertured web 19 in the body of the valve and a screwed plug 21 forming an adjustable restriction for the aperture. The plug is adjusted by means of a key, and is provided with a water-tight cover 24. A lock-ring 26 surrounding the stem of the plug prevents it from being unscrewed too far. The check may be on either side of the main valve.
