Abstract

544,201. Valves. CARTER, F. S. Dec. 5, 1940, No. 17343. [Class 135] A stop-valve adapted also to function as a spring-loaded back pressure or non-return valve, a safety valve or as a pressure reducing valve has a spring interposed between the end of the screwed actuating spindle and the valve member. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the spring d is housed in a recess in the valve member only slightly larger than the external diameter of the spring and the spindle f has a projection e which just fits the internal diameter of the spring so that the spring serves to guide the valve member. In a modification part of the spring is housed in a recess in the end of the valve spindle.
