Abstract

536,897. Valves. WALKER, E. Dec. 7, 1939, No. 31708. [Class 135] A washer for a lift valve member is formed with a socket therein adapted to engage, with a snap-action, a projecting head of a screw inserted in the end of the valve spindle. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the head 23 is formed on a member 21 screwed into the valve spindle 19 and has a cylindrical part 22 and a part with a peripheral groove 24. The washer 25 of rubber or fibre is backed by a flanged plate 27 and is formed with a socket extending part way through the washer, said socket having an internal bend adapted to snap into the groove 24. In a modification, the head is the same diameter as the member 21 which is secured by a lock-nut. In a further modification, the socket is provided with an upstanding plug with an external bend adapted to cooperate with a socket formed in the end of the member 21.
