Abstract

561,385. Valves. RATCLIFF, W. K. Dec. 14, 1942, No. 17725. [Class 135] A screw-actuated stop valve has the valve member formed as a dead-fitting plunger E, the lower end of which is provided with a flat seating surface surrounding a raised projection adapted to fit snugly in the seat orifice. The valve is actuated by a non-reciprocating screwed spindle F held in place by a detachable bonnet L formed to receive a stuffing box. Rotation of the valve member is prevented by projections K in the valve member engaging grooves K<1> in the casing.
