Abstract

509,431. Bib-cocks. BURROWS, S. F. Jan. 17, 1938, No. 1461. [Class 135] A screw-actuated bib-cock of the kind in which the valve member closes in the direction of flow and is provided with a screwed spindle 13 engaging a 'threaded socket in an actuating spindle 7 rotatably mounted in the casing has the valve member provided with a depending spindle 10 slidably engaging a socket 14a in a removable closure plug 14 to prevent rotation of the valve member. The spindle 7 is formed with a collar 7a adapted to be held against,the bottom of a recess 15 in the casing by a packing 16 compressed by a gland nut 17. The valve seat is coned or radiused and the valve member 9 is provided with a thick washer 8 held in place by a central nut 12 and a flanged ring 11 screwed on to the valve member 9.
