Abstract

842,019. Manually-actuated valves. ROSS & CO., Ltd., R. L., and PEARSON, M. R. Nov. 19, 1957 [Jan. 4, 1957], No. 387/57. Class 135. A diaphragm valve, having a housing with an inlet port 11 and an outlet port 12 and a diaphragm 19 which is movable to open or close the valve, is characterized in that the diaphragm is secured between the housing and the valve cover in the region of its outer edge and is secured to a valve-operating member 17 by an upstanding annular rib 20, having an inturned upper edge, centrally disposed on said daphragm and formed to be a press fit over a co-operating head on the operating member. A threaded shank of the operating member 17 engages a similarly-threaded sleeve 24 of a hand wheel 18 rotatably mounted in the valve cover, and a pin 23 passes through the head of the operating member to hold a cover 22 in place over the annular rib and to engage a vertical groove in the valve cover to prevent rotation of the operating member.
