A thermostatic regulator for gas cookers comprises an outer casing a provided with the gas inlet and outlet passages b, c, respectively, an inner body member d, and a cap i containing the valve adjusting means, these three parts of the casing being detachably held together by screws (not shown), and the inner body d is provided with a screwed, sleeve-like extension v projecting past the rear face of the outer casing a and carrying a nut u which also serves to hold the inner body secured to the outer casing. The thermal element comprises a tube e and a rod f, the inner end of the latter engaging a valve closure member g which cooperates with a seating h screwed into the inner body d. The adjusting means comprises an external knob k provided with an indicating dia! x and connected inside the cap to a fork m located between lugs projecting from the seating h so that, when the knob k is rotated, the seating is screwed in or out. A screw-and-slot connection y, z between the knob k and indicating dial x allows the latter to be set initially. A bye-pass passage p controlled by a screw q is provided through the inner body and cap. The valve is loaded by a spring o, and a spring s bearing on a spider r carried by the valve seating h prevents the latter from turning except when the adjustment device is turned.
