In a gas pressure regulating valve in which a loading spring 15 for the diaphragm 3 abuts an adjustable abutment 12 screwed in and locked by grub screw 16 to a knob 13 screwing into the casing at 14 to adjust the spring loading and gas outlet pressure, continued adjustment of knob 13 to reduce outlet pressure eventually cause a shoulder or abutment 12 to engage an adjustable nut 11 on the diaphragm rod 9 whereby the valve is positively engaged with its seat 7. A ball valve 22 spring-loaded away from a seat on the outlet 23 closes under the rush of gas if the outlet hose is disconnected.
