Abstract

The rate of flow of a gas current is kept constant by a throttle valve 2 pivoted at 3 and biased, for example by spring 7, against the gas pressure in a space 4, the size of an outlet 5 controlled by the valve being decreased as the gas pressure increases. The valve has arcuate and radical faces 2a, 2b connected by reinforcing members 2c. A labyrinth seal 6 may be provided between the face 2a and the head la of the valve housing. The load on the spring 7 may be adjusted manually or by a servomotor 14 to which the spring is connected by a lever 11 fitted with a threaded pin 13 for a lock nut. A pneumatic vibration damper 16 or a damper in the form of a weight connected by gearing to the pivot 3 is provided. The spring may also be adjusted by a cable arranged to be wound on to a graduated disc.
