Abstract

1,258,318. Valves. BOPP & REUTHER G.m.b.H. 28 Feb., 1969 [2 March, 1968], No. 10927/69. Heading F2V. A safety valve for a pressure conduit 1 has a closure member 9 with an adjustable spring loading 12 and additional fluid pressure loading acting on a piston 23. The loading fluid is communicated to the chamber surrounding the spring 12 from a conduit 6 by a control device 5 which is responsive to the fluid pressure in conduit 1 so that when the valve response pressure is exceeded in the conduit 1 the spring chamber is communicated to exhaust 8, the additional loading is removed and the relief valve operates. Conversely when the pressure in the conduit 1 is less than the valve response pressure the device 5 maintains the additional fluid loading. A lever 19 acting through a cam 18 can be used to manually lift the valve member 9. In an alternative construction the lower spring-retainer acts as the additional fluid loading piston.
