Abstract
1,216,726. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. WHESSOE Ltd. Sept.25, 1969 [Oct.16, 1968], No.48975/68. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F2] An angularly movable valve 2 allows liquid to flow through a drop pipe 12 into a vessel at a limited rate until the rise of the liquid level blocks the lower end of a passage 17 to cause means 8 to reduce the pressure in a pneumatic operating chamber 11 and release a locking device 4 which allows the valve to be moved to the fully open position by the liquid pressure differential thereacross. The means 8 may be a Venturi and the locking device a pair of links loaded by a spring 21 and displaced to the position shown in broken lines by a pressure responsive diaphragm 9 acting through a spring-loaded lever 10 and a plunger 19 mounted in an adjustable nut 6. The lower end of the passage 17 may be closed by a float or by the liquid itself. A flap 16 enables the flow through the valve in the closed position to be adjusted. In a further embodiment, a plunger actuated by the diaphragm locks a quadrant which may be mounted on the valve spindle or connected to it by links. A coiled spring closes the valve when flow ceases.
