Abstract

723,828. Fluid-actuated valves. BAILEY & CO., Ltd., Sir W. H. Aug. 26, 1953 [Sept. 3, 1952], No. 22119/52. Class 135. In a pressure regulator or a pressure reducing valve which is opened by a spring and closed by inlet or outlet pressure acting upon a diaphragm or other pressure-responsive element, the spring, in addition to its normal slow adjusting means, is provided with means to effect rapid adjustment thereof. As shown, in the loading of the spring 4, Fig. 1, is rapidly adjusted by the depression of a lever 11 pivoted on a cap 8 screwed on to the spring cover 5, the lever coacting with a spindle 14 carrying the spring abutment plate 6. Normal adjustment of the spring loading is effected by rotation of the cap 8 which engages a shoulder on the spindle 14. As shown in Fig. 2, rapid adjustment of the spring loading is effected by rotation of a coarse pitch screw-threaded hollow member 19 which coacts with a screw-threaded bore 18 in the spring casing 5. Normal adjustment of the spring loading is effected by rotation of a rod 21 having a fine pitch which coacts with the threaded bore of the member 19 and abuts the spring plate 6.
