Abstract

1401614 Valves BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 23 Aug 1972 [6 July 1971] 31721/71 Heading F2V In a pressure-reducing gas-flow valve, the gas passes from an inlet 4 through passages, not shown, to an annular space 16 from where it passes between valve member 12 and fixed seat 10 into chamber 8 and thence to outlet 6. A spring-biased diaphragm partially defining the chamber 8, controls the position of valve member 12 and thereby the outlet pressure in accordance with the force exerted by spring 30, which force is adjustable by rotation of a knob 34 screwed on to a fixed sleeve 38. Adjustment of the knob is limited by a pin 42 and by a stack of washers, not shown, surrounding spigot 44 and resting on the top end of body member 36. A member 48 attached to the diaphragm cooperates with a transparent cap 50 having a scale thereon, to indicate the outlet pressure.
