Abstract

1,175,045. Valves. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 21 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 12471/66. Heading F2V. In a gas flow regulating valve, a first diaphragm 5 and an apertured cup-shaped metal pressing 7 are disposed within the valve casing, and preferably, are clamped between two sheet metal pressings 1 and 3 which constitute the valve casing, the valve having inlet and outlet openings 36 and 34 respectively. The diaphragm is biased downwardly by a compression spring 20, the tension in which is adjustable by rotation of a nut 18, and has depending from its lower side a valve stem 15 carrying valve closure member 24 adapted for co-operation with a valve seat 33. A second diaphragm 19, located between member 7 and the valve stem, closes the aperture in member 7 and, together with it and the first diaphragm 5, defines a lower chamber which communicates with the valve outlet 34 by way of bores 27 and 28, the upper side of diaphragm 5 being in communication with atmosphere via suitable openings formed in nut 18 and cap 21.
