Abstract
1,202,606. Valves. BENDIX CORP. 7 Dec., 1967 [7 Dec., 1966], No. 55677/67. Heading F2V. In a combined pressure regulator and relief valve 10, regulation of pressure between an inlet 20 and an outlet 24 is effected by means of a valve member 42 which is movable in relation to its seat 28 by a diaphragm 30 which is subjected on its undersurface to the outlet pressure, transmitted thereto via port 34, and is subjected on its upper surface to the force of an adjustable spring 52. Fluid outlet pressure acting on the undersurface of the diaphragm 30 is also transmitted, via a port 74, to a chamber 72 defined by two cup-shaped members 60 and 62 which are arranged in a mutually telescoping relationship, the members being caused to move relative to one another upon the pressure within chamber 72 exceeding a certain predetermined valve as set by the spring 52, such movement resulting in ports 78, formed in cup-shaped member 62, becoming opened and so communicating chamber 72, via spring chamber 50 and ports 48 formed therein, with atmosphere in order to relieve excess pressure in the chamber.
