Abstract
939,702. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems. NORMALAIR Ltd. March 20, 1962 [March 30, 1961], No. 11685/61. Class 135. A pressure reducing valve comprises a housing 31 formed with an inlet 32 and an outlet 33, the flow through which is controlled by a diaphragm 48 co-operating with a seating 39. The inlet 32 leads to an inlet chamber 45 around the seat and to a control chamber 51 through a restricted orifice 52 to provide fluid loading on both sides of the diaphragm. A pilot valve member 55 loaded by a light spring 56, cooperates with a seat 54 on the diaphragm to control flow from the control chamber 51 to the outlet. The valve member 56 has a stem 57 passing through the seat engaging a spring- loaded diaphragm 44 whose upper face is subjected to outlet pressure through port 42. Variations in outlet pressure adjust the diaphragm 44 and pilot valve member 55 to control the leakage from the control chamber 51. Subsequent variations of the pressure in the control chamber cause adjustment of the diaphragm 48, to vary the flow through the valve, until the leakage past the pilot valve is balanced by the flow through the restriction 52.
