Abstract

1351796 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems COMPAGNIE DES COMPTEURS 14 May 1971 [14 May 1970] 15338/71 Heading G3P In a safety valve arrangement comprising a main valve 1 and a pilot valve 2, the flow from a supply line 18 to a vent line 21 is determined by the pressures prevailing in control chambers 23 and 26 of the main valve and in control chamber 31 of the pilot valve. All three chambers are connected to the supply line through a branch line 6, the connection to chamber 23 being direct via line 6a, that to chamber 26 being via line 6b and a restrictor 3, whilst that to chamber 31 is via line 6b, restrictor 3, line 7, manually operable three-way valve 4, and line 8. An excessive rise in pressure within line 18 results in a downwardly directed pressure differential being created across diaphragm 15 of the main valve 1 and in diaphragm 27 of pilot valve 2 being raised against the force of its manually adjustable spring 32. Accordingly, lines 7 and 8 are vented to line 10 and valve member 16 of the main valve 1 is lifted off its seat 12. A small and slow rise in pressure within line 18 results in an unseating of pilot valve member 29 only, the differential created across diaphragm 15 being, in such a case, insufficient to overcome the bias of its associated spring 25.
