591,289. Thermally-actuated valves. EVERED & CO., Ltd., and PINKESS. L. H. Feb. 23, 1945, No. 4553. [Class 135] A thermostatic regulator for the control of fluid for heating ovens &c. comprises a casing having inlet and outlet chambers 4a, 4b, the latter communicating with a cavity 4c in which is disposed a spring-loaded closure member 5 sliding on a sleeve 9 screwed to a spindle 6. The open end of the cavity 4c supports an annular seating 8 carrying a filter 8a and an end ring 8b. The outer end of the spindle is connected by a pin 6a engaging slots 12a to a bush 12, while the other end is located in a cup 19a attached to a bellows 19 operated by fluid expansion or to other thermo-responsive means, e.g. a rod and tube, the closure member, bush and spindle moving against the spring 13. By turning the calibrated knob 14, the spindle moves the sleeve axially to effect a predetermined setting of the mechanism. The sleeve is prevented from turning by a pin engaging a projection on the seating, the seating being prevented from turning by having a projection engaging a notch in the cover plate 7. The cover plate can be removed together with the seating, closure member and manual operating means without disturbing the predetermined setting of the mechanism.
