Abstract
636,365. Thermally-actuated valves. MILLER, F. Sept. 10, 1947, No. 24823. [Class 135] A valve for regulating the flow of gas to the burners of a liquid heater comprises a body 1 having a gas inlet 5, Fig. 2, and an outlet 6 to the burners, and a control unit including a bimetallic coil 7, responsive to the temperature of the heater, secured at one end to a spindle 8 and at the other to a collar 9 free on the spindle and joined by a sleeve 10 to a second collar 11 also free on the spindle and carrying an arm 12 for a closure plate 13 for the gas inlet 5. The spindle has a shank 14 carrying a plate 16 at one end and formed with a screwdriver slot at its other end through which the position of the plate 13 relatively to the gas inlet is adjusted against the pressure of a spring 18. The plate 16 is formed with a tongue 17 which abuts against the gas inlet and limits the adjustment of the plate.
