811,022. Engine stop-gear. JOLY, A. Jan. 31, 1957 [Feb. 1, 1956], No. 3413/57. Class 122 (4). [Also in Group XXIX] Fuel is normally supplied to an engine via a valve comprising an inlet 2, valve seat 3 and outlet 4, due to the valve closure 14 being urged away from the seat by a spring 6 confined between an annular body groove 5 and a plate 15 on the closure 14; on the plate is a diaphragm 13, the chamber 17 above which is connected by a capillary tube 18 to a thermal bulb 19 in contact with the engine. Upon a given engine temperature being attained the liquid in bulb 19 boils and the resulting steam pressure acting on the diaphragm 13 causes the closure 14 to seat and hence stop the engine; when the engine cools the thermal liquid condenses and the spring 6 unseats the closure 14.
