734,832. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems; valves. MIDLAND INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 13, 1952 [Feb. 13, 1951], No. 3429/51. Class 135. A control valve, e.g. for a steam line, comprises a body 10, Fig. 1, with inlet and outlet ports 11, 12, respectively, and main valve member 17 attached to a piston 15 controlled by a pilot valve 24 responsive to temperature or pressure changes. Inlet pressure fluid passes through a bore 23 in the member 17 to a chamber 22 and acts on the piston to hold the member 17 seated. For temperature control, a bimetal element 25 is adjustable in a chamber 27 connected to the outlet, and is attached to the pilot valve. For pressure control, the pilot valve 43, Fig. 3, is adjustably attached to a piston 46 acted on by outlet pressure against an adjustable spring 48. Opening of the pilot valve releases the pressure in chamber 22 whereby inlet pressure acting on the end 18 of member 17 moves the member to open position. A resilient buffer 36 prevents closure shocks on the main valve member.
