Abstract

685,722. Regulating temperature in valves. COCKBURNS, Ltd.. RODGER, J., and GRANT T. June 18, 1951 [June 23, 1950], No. 15805/50. Class 135. A safety valve comprises a closure member 1 loaded by an adjustable spring 21 and movable in a chamber 27 to relieve excess pressure in the inlet 10, at least one tubular heating coil 2 being provided in the chamber and surrounding the closure member. The coil ends 3, 4 are connected to a source of heating fluid, e.g. steam, and to exhaust respectively. The valve is particularly for use with fluids which, when released, tend to freeze on the closure member and in the outlet passage.
