Abstract

704,235. Valves. FIRKINS, G. A. Jan. 22, 1951 [Jan. 25, 1950], No. 1910/50. Class 135 A thermostatically-controlled mixing valve has a valve or valves in the high temperature fluid supply means urged closed by the fluid pressure and a spring, and pressure responsive means moved by the pressure of the low temperature fluid to open the valve and allow it to close on failure of the supply of low temperature fluid. Cold water at 12 passes through the check valve 25, a passage, not shown, leading to a thermostatic mixing valve housed within a chamber 10 and thence to an outlet 13, and acts on the bellows or piston 23 to open the valve 16 against the spring 19 and steam pressure in 11 to allow the passage of steam via another passage, not shown, leading to the mixing valve and thence to the outlet. When the mixing valve is of the kind described in Specification 666,698, the water and steam respectively pass from inlets 12, 11 to the chambers 12, 13 described in the latter Specification and the outlet 13 corresponds to the outlet 25.
