Abstract

855,355. Controlling burners. PARAMATIC DEVELOPMENT Ltd. Feb. 24, 1958 [Feb. 23, 1957], No. 6144/57. Addition to 836,418. Class 75(1). [Also in Group XXIX] The supply of liquid fuel to a burner 12 is controlled by a valve (not shown) actuated by a bimetal arm mounted as a cantilever and comprising one part 17 responsive to the temperature of water being heated by the burner and another part 18 responsive to the temperature of the burner chamber 11. One end of the bimetal arm is secured to a metallic block 13 fixed to the bottom of the water tank 10. The part 17 is shrouded from the burner gases by a box 14. The part 18 extends across the burner chamber 11. The free end of the bimetal arm extends through an aperture 19 in the wall of the burner chamber 11 and is connected by links 20 with the fuel valve. In order to prevent the fixed end portion 17 from relaxing to a straight position when cold an adjustable stop is provided and comprises a screw 25 having an enlarged conical part 26 which engages an inclined shoulder 28 on the bimetal arm. In a modification the bimetal arm consists of two bimetal strips connected by a bridging piece.
