Abstract
882,420. Supplying fuel to burners. REHHEUGH IRON & STEEL CO. Ltd. April 3, 1959 [Jan. 7, 1958; July 16, 1958], Nos. 584/58 and,-22808/58. Class 75(1) [Also in Group XIII] The flow of oil to a burner is controlled by tilting the float chamber. Oil; is pumped at 21 from a reservoir to a float chamber 10 which pivots about an axis 11, its movement being counterbalanced by a weight 12. The float 14 has an arm 26 pivoted to control the ball valve 29 in the inlet of the float chamber, keeping the fuel at a particular level above the outlet 15 to the burner but when temperature sensitive expansible capsules 31 are actuated, a control rod 34 tilts the float chamber to give an increase or decrease in the level of the oil above the outlet 15 and a corresponding increase or decrease in the heat production of the burner. Stops 38 and a projection 37 limit the movement of the float chamber. An overflow pipe 41 is provided in the wall of the float; chamber and is joined to an external pipe 43 extending freely into a larger pipe 44. The weight of the overflowing oil may be allowed to overcome the bias of the unit and cut off the supply of oil. An auxiliary stationary chamber may be provided between the burner and the float chamber. The pivoting of the float chamber is biased towards cut off by a weight (not shown) adjustable on a longitudinal arm.
