Abstract

960,898. Controlling burners. COMPAGNIO DES GAZ DE PETROLE PRIMAGAZ. Oct. 11, 1961 [Oct. 25, 1960; Feb. 22, 1961], No. 36549/61. Heading F4T. [Also in Division F2] A double valve, Fig. 1, for controlling the supply of propane and the delayed supply of liquid fuel to a burner comprises a valve 13 fixed on one end of a stem 9 secured to an elastic diaphragm 5 and a second valve 20 slidable on the other end of the stem 9. The first valve 13 controls the flow of propane from an inlet 16 to an outlet 17. The second valve 20 controls the flow of liquid fuel from an inlet 22 to an outlet 23. Both valves are closed by springs. The upper surface of the diaphragm is subjected to the pressure of the propane via an inlet 6 and its under surface is at atmospheric pressure via an aperture 8. When the stem 9 descends it immediately opens the valve 13 to supply propane to the burner and its lower end slides in the valve 20 until a shoulder 25 engages the valve 20 and opens it to supply liquid fuel to the burner. The burner control system shown in Fig. 2 comprises a burner 31, a liquid fuel pipe 32, a high pressure propane pipe 34 and a valve 43 similar to that described above. The valve is actuated by low pressure propane supplied through a pressure reducing valve 36 and a pipe 42 and controlled by two valves 38, 39 in series, the valve 38 also controlling a pilot light 40 and the valve 39 being responsive to a thermostat 41. When either valve 38 or 39 closes, the propane in the pipe 42 escapes through a microburner 46.
