Abstract

1,014,953. Fluid-pressure servometer systems. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO.. Ltd. July 30, 1964 [May 3, 1963], No. 17566/63. Heading G3P. Valves 8, 9 actuated by diaphragms 5, 6 control flow of gas from an inlet 7 to an outlet 10 leading to a burner and are controlled by pilot valves 13, 14 actuated by a thermostat 15. When the medium to be heated is below a first temperature 6 1 both pilot valves are open allowing gas passing through restrictions 11 to escape to atmosphere through a pipe 18 so that inlet pressure acting on the diaphragms 5, 6 is able to open both valves 8, 9. Between temperatures t 1 and t 2 the pilot valve 13 progressively closes the outlet from the chamber 3 above the diaphragm to cause progressive closure of the valve 8. Gas then passes through the valve 9 only until the desired temperature t 3 is attained when the pilot valve 14, which is snap-acting, closes to cause the valve 9 to close. The valve 14 opens first as the temperature falls.
