Abstract
696,366. Manually-actuated valves. CROSWELLER & CO., Ltd., W. and BARKER, C. L. Dec. 12, 1950 [Dec. 13, 1949], No. 31912/49. Class 135 A mixing valve, e.g. for hot and cold water, comprises a body 1, Figs. 2, 3 with inlets 4, 5 for the hot and cold fluids respectively, and outlets 6, 7 for the mixture. A cylinder 8 in the body communicates via ports 13 intermediate its ends with the outlets, at its lower end with inlet 4 through a port 9, and at its upper end with the inlet 5. A piston 17 slidable in the cylinder controls the proportions of the mixture and is carried by a stem 19 operable by a knob 22 through a quick-pitch thread 21. Washers 24, 25 carried by the stem and piston respectively, are adapted to close simultaneously the cylinder end ports when the stem is lowered. Only one outlet is used, the one 7 not in use being closed by a plug 18.
