Abstract

799,188. Valves. WALKER CROSWELLER & CO., Ltd. Oct. 22, 1956 [Oct. 21, 1955], No. 30095/55. Addition to 793,775. Class 135. [Also in Group XXVIII] In a valve according to the parent Specification, the underside of the valve body is provided with a cylindrical pillar 19 containing two longitudinal passages 20, 21 opening in corresponding compartments 22, 23 formed in the valve body on the opposite side of the partition 12 to the mixing chamber 2 and into which a corresponding ported valve post 13, 14, extends. Rotation of knob 10 and the screw 7 positions the posts and controls the mixture proportions of cold and hot water or steam which leaves the mixing chamber via a spout which may carry a spray nozzle. The pillar passes through a wash basin and is connected to the hot and cold supply pipes by a Y-shaped union 27 have kidney-shaped passages 31, 32 aligned with passages 20, 21. A pillar pin may enter a slot in the union whereby the union is permitted a certain amount of rotational movement without disaligning the passages in order to facilitate the connection with the supply pipes.
