505,662. Igniting gas burners. HORST, MANN, J. H. G., and HORSTMANN GEAR CO., Ltd. Nov. 18, 1937, No. 31778. [Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iii)] In a time controlled ignition apparatus for the burners of gas ovens and the like, the gas cock 1 is operable by a time control device 6 so as to supply gas to the burner 3 first through a pipe 4 for operating an igniter 8, preferably of the kind described in Specification 443,927, and after a predetermined time interval, deflect the supply to a second pipe 5 provided with a valve 9 controlled by an oven thermostat. The device 6 may be set to open and close the cock at any desired time. If the igniter fails, the valve 9 remains closed and, if the burner be extinguished, the valve closes. The cock is preferably also manually operable.
