Abstract

Valves actuated indirectly by the agency of a cooking vessel when placed on a stove include a spring-controlled movable valve operating member in the valve casing adapted to be swung into the valve opening position by a horizontally movable arm projecting above the stove. The valve C is connected to an arm E which slides in a cylinder G operated by a screwed spindle H, the sliding movement being governed by the stop J. A horizontally movable arm G projects over the stove and is connected to a spindle R provided with an eccentric projection S, which, when the arm Q is moved by the cooking utensil, bears against the upper end of a spring M to free the arm E so that the spring D releases the gas valve B from its seating C. If the arm Q is inadvertently fixed, the gas valve C is opened by the movement of the screwed spindle H. The spring M is stronger than the spring D so that in the normal position of the arm Q the valve C is closed. In a modification, the gas valve orifice is regulated by a screwed sleeve. A pilot jet ignites the gas issuing from the burner.
