Abstract

500,661. Plug cocks. ENSTONE & CO. (SUCCESSORS), Ltd., T. C., and DANKS, J. T. Oct. 28, 1937, No. 29423. [Class 135] To facilitate dismantling of a rotary plug cock, the plug is held in place by a spring arranged between the casing and a readily removable washer. In the form shown, slot 19 allows the retaining washer to be passed over head 11. The washer is then rotated through 90‹ so that the head engages the recesses 20 and is held therein by the pressure of the spring. The outer edge of washer 21 rests upon the valve casing (not shown). The valve casing may be counterbored or provided with an integral hollow extension, and the retaining washer may be provided with axial flanges on one or both sides to enclose the spring and the head 11, thus presenting a clean exterior. The retaining washer may be modified to limit the rotational movement of the plug 6, by the addition of one or more lugs adapted to co-operate with corresponding parts of the valve casing.
