Abstract

313,718. Payne, M. May 7, 1928. Leakage, preventing.- A valve 7 of the kind having a spindle 1 slidable through an aperture 2 in a bonnet 5 and packed by an expansible metal casing 4 has the spindle rotatably connected to an operating- member 9 screwed to the casing, so that the valve may be positively moved in both directions. The expansible sleeve is formed with annular corrugations by spinning or otherwise, and is soldered or brazed to the casing and valve-member. The operating-member may be connected to the spindle by pins engaging an annular groove in the spindle.
