Abstract

194,118. Baker, W. Feb. 20, 1922. Breech actions, drop-down barrel. - A firing mechanism for a drop-down gun having a single barrel and a top-lever locking- action, comprises a pivoted hammer d situated behind the top lever and having a projecting finger-piece e at its upper end, and a firing-pin c mounted in alignment with the axis of the barrel. The hammer spring f is mounted in a hollow butt-tang and acts on the hammer through a sliding thrust-piece h. The hammer is moved to half-cock when the gun is opened by a rod n operated by a plunger l, Fig. 4, engaging a cam on the locking spindle. The plunger l also acts as a stop to limit the rotation of the spindle. The rod n is pressed forwards by a spring r abutting against a plate o which is hinged at the top to the action body and at the bottom presses against the trigger, so that the single spring r controls both the trigger and the locking mechanism.
