Abstract

204,175. B.S.A. Guns, Ltd., and Norman, G. July 27, 1922. Breech actions, sliding breech-block. - A repeating rifle of the kind having a box magazine and an operating-slide beneath the barrel is provided with a catch adapted to lock the slide in its forward position when the hammer is cocked. The catch comprises a spring-pressed lever 1 mounted at the side of the hammer 4 on the hammer pivot 3, or on an independent pivot, and engaging a notch 9 in the action-slide 8, when the slide is forward and the hammer 4 cocked. A shoulder 10 on the hammer engages the lever and disengages it from the slide when the hammer is down. An external finger-piece 11 is provided for releasing the catch by hand.
